Charlie & Darren’s Wedding at The Granary at Fawsley – A Beautiful Spring Celebration

At the start of April, I had the absolute joy of photographing Charlie and Darren’s wedding at one of my all-time favourite spots – The Granary at Fawsley in Northamptonshire. If you know me, you’ll already know just how much I love this place. It’s got everything – stunning countryside views, beautifully restored barns, and one of the friendliest, most hard-working teams around.

Being a recommended wedding photographer at The Granary at Fawsley honestly feels like a dream. It means I get to return here throughout the year, capturing love stories in this magical setting. If you’re planning a wedding at this gorgeous barn-style venue in Northamptonshire, I’d love to hear all about your plans!

A Relaxed Morning Full of Smiles

I arrived bright and early – as always – to say hello to the amazing team, get my bearings, and start prepping for the day. I was booked to photograph everything from bridal prep through to the first dance, and what a day it was!

Charlie and her bridal crew were already in full swing when I arrived, sipping bubbles and laughing as the glam squad worked their magic. The sun was shining, the playlist was spot on, and the whole vibe was fun and chilled – exactly how a wedding morning should be.

Charlie had the biggest smile on her face all day – seriously, she couldn’t stop beaming. She looked absolutely stunning, and the energy in the room was full of excitement and happy nerves.

A Special Father-Daughter Moment

One of my favourite moments of the day? When Charlie’s dad saw her in her wedding dress for the first time. He looked so proud – and I swear there were a few happy tears from everyone in the room. He gave her a thoughtful gift too, which meant the world to her. Moments like these are what I live for as a natural and candid wedding photographer – they’re real, emotional, and completely unforgettable.

The Boys Looking Sharp

Before the ceremony, I headed over to see Darren, who was just as excited as Charlie. He looked seriously dapper in his suit – and his son and best men matched the vibe perfectly. There were loads of laughs, a few nerves, and so much love between them all. It’s always great capturing those little in-between moments, like buttonhole pinning, final suit checks, and cheeky jokes before walking down the aisle.

Guests Arriving & A Ceremony Full of Feels

Once the morning preparations were captured, I made my way to greet guests as they started arriving. Again, the weather was absolute bliss – warm sun, clear skies, and a real buzz of excitement in the air. Everywhere I looked, people were smiling, chatting, and soaking in the joy of the day ahead.

As guests made their way into the ceremony room, I captured all those little moments – hugs, laughter, and anticipation. Then came that incredible walk down the aisle. Darren got a bit emotional when he saw Charlie, and it was such a lovely, honest moment to photograph.

The ceremony itself was packed with emotion. There were tears, there was laughter, and everything in between. It was a beautiful reminder of what weddings are really about – connection, love, and the people who matter most.

Confetti, Cuddles & Couple Portraits

After the “I do’s,” we headed outside for the confetti throw – one of my absolute favourite parts of the day to photograph. It’s always such a high-energy, joy-filled moment, and this one did not disappoint.

During the drinks reception, we got a few relaxed group shots and some lovely candid photos of guests mingling. Then it was time for a few couple portraits. Charlie and Darren didn’t want to be away from their guests for too long, which I completely respect – the day goes by so fast, and it’s so important to be present with your loved ones.

If you know me, you’ll know my approach: yes, I believe wedding portraits are important, but more important is letting couples spend as much of their day as possible just being with the people they love.

Speeches, Golden Hour & That Champagne Moment

After portraits, we all headed in for the wedding breakfast. The wedding speeches were brilliant – emotional, hilarious, heartfelt. The room was full of laughter, a few more happy tears, and plenty of applause.

As dinner wrapped up, we noticed the light had gone full golden hour – that magical, soft glow that makes everything look like a dream. So we snuck back outside for a few more portraits, and honestly, the sunset couldn’t have been more perfect. These golden hour shots are always some of my favourites.

With evening guests arriving, the celebrations kicked up a notch. The cake was cut, the first dance began, and then the dancefloor absolutely came to life. Guests piled on, arms in the air, and the vibe was nothing short of electric.

One Last Shot to End the Day

Just before I packed up, we headed back outside for one last style of portrait – something I’d been really excited to try: the champagne spray shot. This was a first for me, but I’d had the idea in mind for a while and knew Charlie and Darren would be up for it.

And wow – what a way to finish the day! Darren popped the cork, and champagne flew everywhere. Charlie’s reaction was priceless – pure joy and surprise. It was such a fun, high-energy moment, and the perfect way to end an incredible wedding.

(And yes – if you fancy doing the same on your wedding day, don’t worry… I’ve got crates of champagne ready and waiting in the boot!)

Wrapping Up

Before I knew it, it was time to pack up, say my goodbyes, and head home with a full heart and a full memory card. What a day!

Charlie and Darren – thank you so much for having me there to capture your love story. You made me feel so welcome, and your day was nothing short of magic. I wish you all the happiness in the world as you begin this next chapter together.

Big shoutout too to the amazing team at The Granary at Fawsley – you smashed it, as always. You guys absolutely rock.
